Hi, I’m Maddie, the artist behind Paper Village.

I’m an avid reader, qualified Graphic Designer and publishing professional with over eight years’ experience in the Australian book industry.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, I began my publishing career as a bookseller. I had no idea how useful the years behind the counter would be; talking with readers, stocking shelves, seeing what caught the eye (and what didn’t). This experience led me to work for a small, award-winning trade publisher, where I transitioned from roles in administration to marketing, and later design.

These days, I’m a freelance graphic designer, specialising in book covers for trade and independently published authors. My design services extend across the publishing industry, with the production of marketing collateral, print and digital advertising, and visuals for social media campaigns.

I pride myself on understanding an author’s heart and a publisher’s vision, because I’m a writer, too. You can visit my other website to learn more about that.
